Drinking tea in the morning is a common breakfast ritual in many homes especially amongst children. Not just amongst children as now many adults also take this beverage in the morning heading out to work. Many mothers prepare processed tea (cocoa, malt, and milk mixtures) for their kids but they are not aware of the fact that daily consumption of this leads to damaging effects on the body in the future.

There are many malt and milk tea beverages that are sold in the market these days and they target children especially. These drinks are made of malt extract, vitamins, minerals, liquid glucose, solid cocoa, milk solids, sugar, salt, flavorings, and color. These beverages brag about boosting your kid’s energy throughout the day. Not just that, most of them also claim to help your kids become smarter and grow taller. These claims are untrue as all they do is spike your child’s blood sugar levels. Here are some more reasons why you should limit the intake of processed beverage in your home;

1. It leads to tooth decay

Too much drinking of these beverages can lead to decay of the tooth especially in children. If your kids take these beverages every day, they are more likely to develop cavities and have tooth decay. This is because of the excess amount of sugar that is packed into these beverages.

2. Your child will not become energetic

The top claim many of these beverages have is they will give your kids the energy they need for the day. This is false and only an advertisement hoax. They do not give your kids the energy they need, instead, it skyrockets the blood sugar level of your kids. the sudden increase in blood sugar level especially in kids leads to hyperactivity which will later be called an increase in energy.

3. It can lead to diabetes in the future

Diabetes is caused by the increase in blood sugar levels, and constant intake of these processed sugary beverages can lead to diabetes at an early age. The sugars present in these drinks only damage your health in the long run.

4. The colorings used is bad for your stomach.

It is no new fact that these drinks are given artificial colors, this is even more reason why you should take them with caution. Too much consumption of the artificial colorings present in the beverage leads to intestinal problems.

Now you must be wondering, if I can’t drink this processed tea because of the effects on my health and that of my family, what do I prepare as tea in the morning? Well, the answer is also contained in this article.
